Term One 2021 Round Up
And just like that Term One is over! Here is a round-up of what we got up in the art room this term
We started the year off with a bang by making a gorgeous collaborative artwork with the kids from Rimurimu.
Sally and Lizzie’s classes made artworks inspired by Island Bay School. Sally’s class made paintings based on the poems of our caretaker, Avie. Lizzie’s class made artworks inspired by the physical environment at Island Bay School.
Amy’s class also started their Calendar Art this term. They made painted paper kites inspired by manu tukutuku (kites) and Matariki.
Maria and Gina’s five year olds visited the art room for their first time and created expressive monkeys based on the story ‘Grumpy Monkey’ by Suzanne Lang.
And in the last week of term Karli’s class made beautiful aerial perspective artworks of soaring gannets which are also for Calendar Art this year.
Term One has been an absolute blast! I can’t wait to work with the fabulous artists of Island Bay School next term.
