Hundertwasser Inspired Flowers
Deanne’s New Entrant and Year One class came to visit me in the art room for their second ever art day. I was so impressed with how they worked and got along together. They have done a lot of growing in the ten weeks since I last worked with them.
The class learnt about hot and cold colours today. They made brightly coloured collages inspired by the works of Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
The students ripped and sorted tissue paper to separate hot and cold colours. They chose one of these colour schemes and collaged their background, taking care to overlap the tissue paper to eliminate any white spaces.
After looking at examples of Hundertwasser’s tree and flower artworks the students created their own works in a similar style. They used pastels to draw patterned, circular flowers in a contrasting colour scheme to their backgrounds. The finished pictures are bold, bright and echo the works of Hundertwasser.
